NOW! is the first game that Scorpion Masqué has co-published with our friends, our office neighbors, and our Canadian distributor: Randolph!
In Quebec, Randolph is known for its gaming pubs, but also for being the standard-bearer of the noble mission of bringing gaming pleasure to as many people as possible in our beautiful province! On the games side, Randolph has published many popular French-language titles inside Quebec, but have begun to make real inroads into the English-language market with games like Miller Zoo, CDSK, and Romi Rami. Their upcoming 'all-weather' game, Seaside, will find its way into your beach bags from June onwards... keep your eyes peeled for it!
While Randolph began creating games in 2014, Scorpion Masqué was born in 2006. But you know what they say: Age is only a number! The common factors are the pride of being Montreal-based studios, and the desire to conquer the hearts of thousands of gamers around the world.
With NOW! we wanted to combine Randolph's enthusiasm with the ingenuity we look for in the games we publish. The result is a real party game, full of twists and turns and lots of laughs!
Joël Gagnon, studio head of Randolph tells us: “The first time I played NOW!, I fell in love instantly. I was immediately charmed by the simple idea of only seeing one card at a time and discarding your deck in search of a better card. It's a perfect metaphor for the Push Your Luck mechanism, that succeeds in tripping up our judgment. When the Scorpion Masqué team offered us the opportunity to work with them, as two studios, on this project, we were super excited! We joined forces to give as much love as possible to this little game.”
All this to tell you that NOW!, this wonderful little game, has been a labour of love for both of our teams, and is already available in stores, or maybe even in your kallax!
Well, enough about us! We'll introduce you to the game's author, Silvano Sorrentino, next week.
Now available!
Once a month Scorpion Masqué's Grand Poobah shares his thoughts with you. From how the market has evolved, to writing rules that make sense, with detours into game mechanisms, you will get a glimpse at the board game industry from the point of view of a publisher.
